If you live on the Island, you know Maui Joe. Maui Joe is the ultimate party-boy who can never say no to a woman or a beverage. Joe manages to get by financially by relying on his extensive network, and his clever way of recreating himself in new professions, which is good because his drinking and lewd behavior prevent him from holding a job for very long.

Naturally pretty, endearingly innocent and wholesome, April is a pleasant southern belle traveling alone on the big Island. While she has incomparable domestic abilities, her intellect and character judgment leave something to be desired. Recently, she has caught the eye of Maui Joe, who has given her a local support system while trying to exploit her naivety.

The Skipper is a rugged old sea captain who has turned to providing social cruises for the rich and famous or anybody that will pay for his seagoing ventures. A bit foul-mouthed at times, Skipper is lovable yet easily irritated, especially by his fellow crew mate who is always fouling things up.

Gil is the bumbling, dimwitted, accident-prone crewman of the S.S. Minnow. In addition to crew responsibilities, he has recently been asked to provide photography services for the minnow's new "Social Cruises." His friends always call him by his full name, Gil Again.

Nationally recognized surfer and bathing suit model, Susie Curl, is an Island beauty who can shred on a board. She has a flaming temper when it comes to preserving the natural landscape, especially around the waters. Despite her occasional flare-ups, Susie is definitely an Island favorite.

Willy Getigh is the founder of NUPRCOA, a freedom loving, peace group that protects Hawaii's natural environment. Whether it's a beached dolphin who is needing to be returned to the sea or a buxom blond needing another application of sun screen, he is always there to help a creature in need.

On the outside Lauren Kantseng is a cosmetic beauty, on the inside she is the ultimate type-A, cut-throat over-achiever. For much of her life, this competitive drive has been directed toward beauty pageants. Finally, she has reached her ultimate goal of winning the title, Pineapple Princess. Lauren is a formidable dancer, but her vocal chords leave a lot to be desired.

“Doc” as everyone calls Dr. Plant, is a high school science teacher whose principal expertise is botany. Doc has been looking to get his/her book titled "Fun with Ferns" published. In addition, to his/her love of botany, Doc, is a renowned inventor and scout leader. Many of his/her inventions utilize coconuts and bamboo, both of which are in plentiful supply on the Island.

This local lounge lizard has spent the better part of the past 20 years meandering through hotel lobbies and local bars seeking to take advantage of the travelers who come and go from the Island. Lately, Alex has moved from small time pick-pocket to much larger scale fraud.

Monte is a popular Island bartender in Maui, especially among the older wealthy women. He has gained a reputation for his smooth but potent concoctions with their very creative names. Monte Maitai knows just about everyone and everything that is happening on the Island.

Franklin Morganstern is a man of untold fortunes. While the exact extent of his wealth is unknown, the estimated value of his stake in several large corporations is in the billions of dollars. Among his personal assets are a diamond mine, a coconut plantation, a railroad, an oil well, and 40,000 acres of prime real estate in the Hawaiian Islands.

Although born spoiled and preoccupied with social status, Mrs. Morganstern is kind and genuinely cares about those around her. Her great fortunes have led her to be overly suspicious and she is known to be particularly jealous of younger women. Franklin, her husband, was quoted as saying their brilliance together was only succeeded by their greed. Those close to her call her Trinket.

Lei is recognized as the premiere Madame for the Hawaiian Islands. She specializes in tourist attractions.

Ron Ho is the local singing sensation with big hits such as "Baby Bubbles" and "Sweet Some-Body." A trip to Maui is never complete without spending an evening with this famous crooner.

Starr Bright is a movie star who has a second home on the Island. She is quite self-obsessed and wants to be sure that everyone knows how brilliant and talented she is. Miss Bright craves the spotlight. She knows there is no such thing as bad press and makes sure that the paparazzi is always around.

Elvis is the ultimate local entertainer adored by local and tourists alike. “Elvis is in the house!” Always respecting the king, Elvis sings and dances at nearly every social gathering. More than just an Elvis-impersonator, he calls himself an Elvis-replicator, replicating Elvis' life and legend as if it were his own. Elvis goes to great lengths to ensure a positive image of the king. He will never pass up an opportunity to sing or thrust for a fan.

One of several women who have come to Maui to score a rich husband. She competes daily with these women and will do whatever it takes to win the best prize.

Kane's name roughly translates as male at his finest, which Kane is. He is also known for his elite fire-eating, throwing and juggling act.

The Naughty Nani Dancers are one of Hawaii's premier dance corps. They are widely known for their exotic and mysterious dances.

The Tiki Tiki Tribesmen are a group of retired businessmen from the mainland. The locals have mixed feelings about the Haoles performing traditional tribal dances.
