A murder mystery party game for 6–14 players · For teens · 2–3 hours · Play on phones or print · From $29.95
G'day, G'bye! A tropical gala turns into a coral-covered crime scene.
The story
The evening began with champagne and self-congratulations as Rupert Mur-duck toasted his latest media acquisition. However, the celebration was cut short when a loud crash was heard from the lower decks. Guests rushed down to find Rupert slumped against the glass floor, surrounded by exotic fish and a very suspicious lack of oxygen. With the radio dead and the captain mysteriously missing, the six famous guests must determine who had the motive to silence the mogul. Is it the action star with a secret debt, the leading lady with a hidden past, or the comedian who took one joke too far? The tide is rising, and the truth is waiting to be caught.
Setting: The 'Aussie Empress' luxury yacht, anchored over a vibrant section of the Great Barrier Reef during a tropical sunset.
The characters
- Chris Hem-stitch, The Action Hero: As the world's most famous Aussie export, Chris is usually seen saving the world on the big screen. Tonight, he seems more focused on the buffet and the exits.
- Nikki Kid-mount, The Leading Lady: The 'Queen of Cinema,' Nikki has a reputation for being untouchable and perfect. She has been a close friend of Rupert's for years, or so it seemed.
- Liam Hem-spike, The Brooding Actor: Liam is the rebel of the family. He’s been outspoken against Rupert’s environmental record, leading many to believe he had a bone to pick tonight.
- Margie Rob-bery, The Starlet: Margie is the darling of the media. Everyone loves her, but she seems to have been following Rupert around all evening with a very focused intensity.
- Rusty Crow-call, The Method Actor: Rusty has a history of public outbursts. His rivalry with Rupert’s media empire is legendary, and he’s been heard yelling about 'truth and justice' all night.
- Reba Will-spin, The Comedian: The nation's favorite funny-woman. People think she’s here to entertain, but some noticed she and Rupert had a very heated argument in the VIP lounge.

Questions
What kind of roleplay intensity can guests expect from this murder mystery dinner party game?
This adult murder mystery game leans into 'Standard' roleplay intensity, emphasizing comedy and character interaction over dark drama. Guests will love playing over-the-top versions of Hollywood stars while navigating red herrings like broken champagne flutes and movie script fragments. As a murder mystery dinner party game, it encourages players to lean into the 'G’day, G’bye!' vibe, making it accessible for those who want a fun, lighthearted murder mystery game board experience without needing professional acting skills.
Why is 'Murder on the Reef' mystery game the perfect choice for an adult murder mystery party theme?
This murder mystery party theme offers a unique blend of Hollywood glamour and tropical comedy, setting it apart from your typical mystery party. Hosted on the 'Aussie Empress' yacht over the Great Barrier Reef, the story features hilarious parodies of famous Australian icons like 'Chris Hem-stitch' and 'Nikki Kid-mount.' It is an immersive murder mystery game that provides a standard tone—balancing comedic secrets, like a faked New Jersey accent, with a clever investigation into a venomous reef encounter.
Is this murder mystery party kit easy for a first-time host to run for 6 players?
Absolutely! To host murder mystery party events like this one, you don't need a professional stage. This murder mystery party kit is specifically designed for 6 players, making it manageable and intimate. The character details for icons like Rusty Crow-call and Margie Rob-bery are rich with sordid secrets and motives, ensuring the dialogue flows naturally. Whether you're planning a murder mystery dinner party or a casual evening, the provided clues—like the sabotaged yacht engine and the Blue-Ringed Octopus—make it one of the best murder mystery games for ease of play.
How many people can play?
6 to 14 players. The 6 main characters are included for $29.95; add up to 8 more at $7.00 each ($43.95 for 8, $71.95 for 12, $85.95 for 14).
Can a large group play?
Yes. In large group mode some guests play the characters and everyone else joins detective teams, up to 200 people. Large group mode comes with a Non-profit or Business license.
Do I need to print anything?
No. Guests get their characters and clues on their phones, and the host runs each round, the accusations and the reveal from the Game Room, with narrator audio and a TV mode. A printable kit is included if you prefer paper.
How long does the game take?
About 2–3 hours, played over several rounds, usually alongside dinner or drinks.
How soon can I start?
