Stayin' Alive? Not this guy!

The story

Tony Maroni was about to announce the winner of the 'Diamond Disco' trophy, a prize worth millions. But before the winner could be crowned, the power was cut, a scream echoed through the bass-heavy beat, and when the lights returned, Tony was face-down in a pile of glitter. Every suspect had a reason to want Tony gone—be it unpaid debts, stolen choreography, or a drug bust gone wrong.

Setting: Studio 55, a legendary New York City disco club in late 1979. The VIP lounge is filled with velvet ropes, overpriced champagne, and enough glitter to be seen from space.

Questions

Is 'Death at the Disco' a good choice for a first-time host planning an adult murder mystery game?

Absolutely! This is one of the best murder mystery games for beginners because the story is driven by colorful characters and funny red herrings—like 'bloodstains' that turn out to be cherry liqueur. The kit provides clear instructions on how to host a murder mystery party, ensuring you can manage the investigation into Dr. Funkenstein and the 'Groove Juice' mystery with total confidence.

What makes 'Death at the Disco' a memorable choice compared to other murder mystery party games?

With the tagline 'Stayin' Alive? Not this guy!', this game offers a unique blend of 70s nostalgia and laugh-out-loud comedy. Unlike a standard murder party, your guests will be investigating clues like a hand-knitted 'I Love Disco' coaster and suspicious powdered sugar. It is an unforgettable murder mystery party experience that perfectly captures the glitter-soaked chaos of the disco era.

Do I need to buy expensive props to host this murder mystery dinner party game?

Not at all! While a disco ball helps set the stage, this murder mystery game kit includes all the essential clues to drive the plot, such as Roxie Roller’s voice-modulator remote and Slick Rick’s shimmering gold thread. Our immersive murder mystery games are designed to be accessible, allowing you to create a legendary NYC club vibe using simple items like cocktail umbrellas and overpriced champagne bottles.

What kind of atmosphere can I expect from the 'Death at the Disco' murder mystery party theme?

Get ready for a high-energy, hilarious night! This adult murder mystery party transports your guests to Studio 55 in 1979, where the VIP lounge is dripping with glitter and velvet ropes. It is a comedy-focused experience where the vibe is more 'funky' than 'frightening,' making it the perfect murder mystery party game for hosts who want a lighthearted, pop-culture-heavy event.

How much acting is required for the characters in this mystery dinner party?

Our murder mystery themes are designed for flexibility. Whether your guests want to go full 'method actor' as a disco diva or just enjoy the comedy while searching for a blonde wig at the crime scene, this mystery dinner party works for everyone. The 1979 pop culture setting encourages big personalities, but the game mechanics ensure the mystery is solved regardless of your guests' acting experience.

How many people can play?

6 to 14 players. The 6 main characters are included for $34.95; add up to 8 more at $4.00 each ($42.95 for 8, $58.95 for 12, $66.95 for 14).

Can a large group play?

Yes. In large group mode some guests play the characters and everyone else joins detective teams, up to 200 people. Large group mode comes with a Non-profit or Business license.

Do I need to print anything?

No. Guests get their characters and clues on their phones, and the host runs each round, the accusations and the reveal from the Game Room, with narrator audio and a TV mode. A printable kit is included if you prefer paper.

How long does the game take?

About 2.5 hours, played over several rounds, usually alongside dinner or drinks.

How soon can I start?

Straight away. The game appears in My Games right after checkout, where you can send invitations and assign characters.
