Ale’s Well That Ends Well: An Oktoberfest Mystery
A murder mystery party game for 6–14 players · For adults · 2.5 hours · Play on phones or print · From $34.95
Someone’s beer is about to be their last!
The story
The festivities are in full swing until the Baron Von Bratwurst is found dead, his body discovered slumped in a sauerkraut barrel — sedated, then silenced for good. As the tent is locked down by the local authorities, the six most prominent guests at the Baron's table become the primary suspects. With the oompah band playing a somber tune and the scent of mustard in the air, the guests must navigate a web of industrial espionage, family feuds, and ruined reputations to find the killer before the last keg runs dry. The stakes are as high as a giant Ferris wheel, and everyone has a reason to want the Sausage King cooked.
Setting: The VIP Balcony of the 'Hops and Horror' Tent during the height of the Munich Oktoberfest, 1895.
The characters
- Klaus von Kraut, The Disinherited Son: As the heir to the Bratwurst throne, Klaus is viewed as a spoiled but harmless dandy. People assume he's just waiting for his father to pass so he can sell…
- Greta von Gulp, The Rival Brewer: Greta is known as a fierce competitor who would do anything to win the 'Golden Stein' award. She's respected but feared for her blunt honesty.
- Hans Holler, The Groundskeeper: Hans is the invisible man of Octoberfest. He's seen everywhere but noticed by no one. People think he's a simple worker who loves his job.
- Brigitte Bauer, The Eating Champ: As the face of the Baron's marketing campaign, Brigitte is a hero to the hungry masses. She is often seen eating three bratwursts at once.
- Fritz Fischer, The Oompah Leader: Fritz is the life of the party. He's expected to be jolly and loud at all times, leading the crowd in cheers and songs.
- Helga Hinterland, The Beer Queen: Helga is the image of Bavarian perfection. Young girls want to be her, and young men want to buy her a pretzel. She is the Baron's pride and joy.

Questions
How much acting is required for characters like Brigitte Bauer or Hans Holler?
This adult murder mystery game is built on comedy, so while acting is encouraged, it is very accessible. Your guests will love stepping into the shoes of Brigitte (the world champion bratwurst eater) or Hans (the poaching groundskeeper). Our murder mystery party games provide clear public profiles and secrets—like hidden music boxes and secret dachshund charities—to help even shy guests dive into the roleplay during your murder mystery party.
What kind of atmosphere can I expect from the 'Ale’s Well That Ends Well' murder mystery game?
This adult murder mystery party game captures the rowdy, comedic spirit of the 1895 Munich Oktoberfest. Set in the exclusive 'Hops and Horror' tent, it is a perfect mix of historical charm and absurd humor—where a ceremonial golden bratwurst and a vat of sauerkraut become key pieces of evidence. It is an immersive murder mystery game that feels more like a festive celebration than a dark crime scene, making it ideal for groups who love a laugh.
Do I need elaborate props to host this Oktoberfest-themed murder mystery dinner party?
Not at all! While this murder mystery party kit works best with some lederhosen and beer steins, the story is so rich with detail—from the 'Mountain Sleep' herbs to Fritz Fischer’s suspicious accordion case—that your guests' imagination does most of the heavy lifting. It is one of the best murder mystery games for first-time hosts who want to host a murder mystery party with a high-energy 'Hops and Horror' theme without needing to build a real VIP balcony.
Why choose 'Ale’s Well That Ends Well' over other common murder mystery themes?
If you want a murder mystery party game that stands out, this Oktoberfest setting is unbeatable. It trades the usual dusty manors for a vibrant 1890s festival atmosphere. With hilarious red herrings like 'extra spicy' poison and blue lederhosen buttons, it’s a refreshing take on the genre. Whether you are looking for an immersive murder mystery game or a lighthearted mystery dinner party, the 'Hops and Horror' tent provides a uniquely memorable experience for all your guests.
How many people can play?

Can a large group play?
Yes. In large group mode some guests play the characters and everyone else joins detective teams, up to 200 people. Large group mode comes with a Non-profit or Business license.
